My full name is Robert Beardsley, I was born in Davenport, Iowa and I now live in Bettendorf, Iowa. I have wanted to be an engineer since I was in the 8th grade. Both my parents are industrial engineers that work for John Deere. Industrial engineering interests me as well. I believe that this type of engineering is interesting because trying to find the most efficient way to accomplish a task seems important. During high school I have taken an engineering problems class, a Computer Aided Design class, and two Intro to Engineering classes. My senior year I will be taking an engineering academy class which splits time between a college classroom and a few different John Deere campuses across the Quad Cities. As for the engineering problems class, the class was given multiple problems to solve however we wanted, as long as the solution fit inside a list of constraints and criteria that we were limited by. Through out all of these classes I have become fairly skilled in CAD and how to work with a team. Another thing that was constantly shown to us was the design process, and how to use it. I hope to use these skills some day at an industrial engineering job where I can help others and the business I work for.
